Super Eagles Camp In Full Swing Ahead Of World Cup Qualifier Against Rwanda.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have received a significant boost as more players arrived in Kigali ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against the Wasps of Rwanda.

On Tuesday, 18 March 2025, team captain William Troost-Ekong led a group of key players into camp, reinforcing the squad’s determination to secure vital points in the qualification race. Joining him were Alex Iwobi, Calvin Bassey, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman, Joseph Aribo, Igoh Ogbu, and Bright Osayi-Samuel. Their arrival follows that of Moses Simon, who, alongside Victor Boniface and others, had already settled into camp a day earlier.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that Victor Osimhen was among the first batch of players to arrive alongside five others, marking the official opening of the Super Eagles’ camp in Kigali. The latest arrivals, fondly referred to as “the England boys,” include Troost-Ekong, Lookman, Ndidi, Iwobi, and Bassey, further strengthening the squad ahead of the clash.

Troost-Ekong, eligible to represent both the Netherlands and Nigeria, has been a key figure for the Super Eagles, amassing over 70 caps. He has captained the team in major tournaments, including the 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where Nigeria finished as runners-up to Ivory Coast earlier this year. With Ahmed Musa absent, Troost-Ekong is expected to take on greater leadership responsibilities under new head coach Eric Chelle.

Ademola Lookman, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, is also set to play a crucial role in Nigeria’s attacking setup. His recent form has been outstanding, and he will be instrumental in the team’s quest for victory against Rwanda.

The Super Eagles’ social media channels have shared vibrant images of the team’s training sessions, showcasing their high spirits and determination. With the full squad gradually assembling, anticipation continues to build ahead of the highly anticipated encounter.

Nigeria will be aiming for a strong start in their World Cup qualification campaign, and the presence of key players in camp signals their intent to dominate against Rwanda.
