Six Dead, Four Rescued In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash.
Six individuals have lost their lives and four others were rescued following a tragic road accident that occurred early Saturday morning along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, in front of the NIPCO Gas Station opposite the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Prayer City, outbound Lagos.
The incident, which took place at approximately 6:30 a.m., involved a collision between a truck, a fuel tanker, and a 14-seater commercial bus. According to eyewitnesses, the impact of the crash was severe, resulting in heavy traffic gridlock in the area.
Rescue efforts were promptly coordinated by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Fire Service, and the Nigeria Police. Authorities confirmed that while six persons died at the scene, four individuals were successfully rescued from the bus, including a woman who was critically injured and immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
Corridor Commander of TRACE in Ibafo, Denja Abdullahi, stated that the drivers of the fuel tanker managed to escape unhurt.
In a public appeal, the Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, urged road users and the general public to remain calm and cooperative as traffic management agencies continue to work on clearing the scene and restoring normal movement along the route.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, while efforts are ongoing to prevent further disruption and ensure safety along the expressway.
