Manchester City Sweep Aside Nottingham Forest To Reach Third Successive FA Cup Final.

Manchester City showcased their big-match pedigree by sweeping past Nottingham Forest to book a third consecutive FA Cup final appearance.

Pep Guardiola’s men produced a dominant display at Wembley, winning 2-0 on a warm afternoon in London. Their victory sets up a showpiece final against Crystal Palace on 17 May, providing City with the opportunity to end a challenging season on a high after surrendering their Premier League crown to Liverpool, who sealed the title with victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Despite being outnumbered in the stands, City wasted no time asserting their authority. Just two minutes in, Mateo Kovacic picked out Rico Lewis on the edge of the box, and the young midfielder drilled an immaculate low shot into the bottom corner to silence the Forest support.

City continued to press for a second goal as Forest struggled to find their rhythm. Omar Marmoush fired over after a neat exchange with Jack Grealish, while Nico O’Reilly showed some fine footwork before dragging a shot wide.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side had their golden chance to equalise moments after the restart when Callum Hudson-Odoi squared for Anthony Elanga, but the former Manchester United winger, celebrating his 23rd birthday, placed his shot wide from close range.

City capitalised ruthlessly on that miss. Six minutes into the second half, Josko Gvardiol rose highest to meet Marmoush’s corner, powering a header beyond Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner to double their advantage.

Forest fought back valiantly, striking the woodwork on three separate occasions. Morgan Gibbs-White thundered a superb volley against the bar, then hit the post from a tight angle after rounding Stefan Ortega. Substitute Taiwo Awoniyi also clipped the post with a close-range effort, before Ortega denied Nicolas Dominguez’s header with a fine save.

Despite their spirited efforts, it was ultimately not Forest’s day. City’s clinical edge ensured their passage to yet another FA Cup final, as they look to lift the trophy for the eighth time in their illustrious history.
