36,000 Delegates Expected As FG Unveils Registration Portal For Youth Confab

36,000 Delegates Expected As FG Unveils Registration Portal For Youth Confab.

The Federal Government has launched an online registration portal for the 2025 National Youth Conference, anticipating the participation of 36,000 delegates from across Nigeria. The initiative, reported by National Accord Newspaper, aims to engage young Nigerians in addressing critical issues such as unemployment, education, and security. President Bola Tinubu has described the conference as a cornerstone of his administration’s youth empowerment strategy.

The portal, accessible via a dedicated government website, is open to Nigerians aged 15–35, with applications expected to reflect the country’s diverse regions and demographics. Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jemila Ibrahim, outlined the conference’s objectives, which include harnessing innovative ideas for sustainable development and fostering national unity. The event will feature workshops, plenary sessions, and opportunities for delegates to interact with policymakers.

Planning for the conference comes amid Nigeria’s economic challenges, including high inflation and youth unemployment rates exceeding 40%. The government has pledged to ensure transparency in the selection process, with an independent committee overseeing registrations to prevent bias. Organizers have also partnered with private sector stakeholders to provide logistical support, including transportation and accommodation for delegates from remote areas.

Public reactions varied, some youths have hailed the confab as a platform to voice their aspirations, while others question its timing and potential impact, citing past conferences that yielded few tangible outcomes. Critics argue that the government should prioritize job creation and economic relief over large-scale events, though supporters view it as a step towards inclusive governance.

The success of the conference will depend on its ability to translate discussions into policy actions. Stakeholders have called for a clear implementation framework, with measurable goals to track progress. As registrations continue, the initiative represents a chance for Nigeria’s youth to shape the national agenda, provided the government demonstrates commitment to their recommendations.
