Governor Adeleke’s Infrastructure Drive To Transform Osun State Equitably

Governor Adeleke’s Infrastructure Drive To Transform Osun State Equitably.

Osun State is witnessing a significant transformation under Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration, with a commitment to evenly distribute infrastructure projects across all regions, according to the Permanent Secretary for Works, Engr. Bello Adegboyega. Speaking recently, Adegboyega emphasised that the ongoing infrastructural rebirth will ensure balanced development, addressing the needs of both urban and rural communities.

The Adeleke administration has prioritised infrastructure as a cornerstone for socio-economic growth. A robust N159 billion development plan for 2025, unveiled in March, targets key sectors including road construction, education, and healthcare. This follows a N100 billion initiative launched in 2023, which has already delivered over 150 kilometres of rehabilitated roads, 200 upgraded primary healthcare centres, and 99 renovated schools. Major projects such as the Ilesa dualisation and the Ile-Ife and Oke-Fia flyovers, at 60% and over 90% completion respectively, underscore the government’s dedication to modernising the state’s infrastructure.

Adegboyega highlighted that the equitable distribution of these projects ensures no region is left behind. For instance, significant roadworks include the N5.94 billion Osogbo-Iwo-Oyo State boundary road and the N13.7 billion Osogbo-Ikirun-Kwara State boundary road, alongside new initiatives like the N10.42 billion dualisation of Odo Ori Junction to Adeeke Junction. These efforts aim to enhance connectivity, boost local economies, and improve access to essential services across Osun’s diverse communities.

In the education sector, N1.98 billion has been allocated for school renovations, with projects such as the N200 million upgrade of Agbonran School of Science in Ede South and the N149.5 million renovation of Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School in Ile-Ife. The healthcare sector is also receiving a boost, with N2.76 billion set aside for the renovation of 124 primary healthcare centres, ensuring better medical access for residents, particularly in underserved areas.

Governor Adeleke has repeatedly affirmed his commitment to fiscal responsibility, stating that these projects are funded through state allocations, internally generated revenue, and special federal funds, without incurring loans. This approach, Adegboyega noted, reflects the administration’s focus on sustainable development and transparency.

The Permanent Secretary also addressed the inclusivity of the projects, stating that local contractors, engineers, and artisans are being prioritised to stimulate the Osun economy. “This is about building a stronger, more prosperous Osun State, where every community benefits,” Adegboyega said, echoing the governor’s vision of collective progress.

As Osun continues its infrastructural transformation, residents have been urged to support these initiatives. With ongoing and new projects set to be completed within the 2025 fiscal year, the state is poised to become a model of balanced development in Nigeria, ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every corner of Osun.
