Abuja, FCT – In a major political development ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has formally recognised Senator David Mark as the national chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as the national secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The commission also approved other interim national officers of the opposition party, solidifying the new leadership structure within the ADC.

Reacting to the announcement, Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s national spokesperson, expressed his excitement over the recognition. Posting on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Abdullahi congratulated members of the ADC and all supporters of democracy in Nigeria.

He also commended INEC and its chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, for what he described as a principled stand in support of multi-party democracy, applauding the commission for being on the “right side of history.”

The recognition is seen as a strategic boost for the ADC as it positions itself for the upcoming 2027 elections.
