The African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition held a crucial meeting in Abuja, bringing together prominent politicians to discuss the party’s strategy for the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, were among the notable attendees at the recent ADC coalition meeting in Abuja.
The meeting, which was attended by key stakeholders, aimed to strengthen the party’s position ahead of the 2027 general elections. Atiku described the gathering as a “meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land”.
According to Atiku, the coalition is determined to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections. “I am currently at the stakeholders meeting of the Coalition African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abuja. It’s a meeting of the Nigerian people against the oligarchs who promote poverty and insecurity in the land,” he said.
Other prominent members who attended the meeting include former Senate President David Mark, former Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Tambuwal, and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Pantami. The ADC coalition is expected to serve as a platform for challenging the ruling party in the 2027 elections.
The meeting signals a deeper involvement in ADC’s evolving role as a coalition platform ahead of the 2027 polls. Atiku’s presence at the meeting suggests he may be positioning himself for the party’s presidential ticket in 2027.
The ADC has consistently criticized the policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and is positioning itself as a formidable challenger in the next electoral cycle. With prominent figures like Atiku, El Rufai, and Obi backing the movement, the ADC is likely to be a force to reckon with in the 2027 elections.
As the party continues to strengthen its grassroots presence, its decision on the presidential candidate is eagerly awaited. The ADC’s structure and zoning are yet to be finalized, but one thing is clear – the party is gearing up for a tough battle in 2027.
