The Most Anticipated Group Game At The On Going AFCON 2023 Holds Today! As Super Eagles Of Nigeria Take On The Host Nation, Elephants Of Cote d’Ivoire! In A Battle To Affirm Supremacy.

Whilst Egypt The Most Decorated Country In The Competition Takes on Ghana Whose Stars Will Need To Rise….

“What We Gathered” (Govima Sport)

Following the conclusion of the first round of matches in the group stage of AFCON 2023, second round matches begins earnestly and one of many is of course the most anticipated encounter between the host Nation Cote d’Ivoire and the Super Eagles Of Nigeria.

The two West African countries are of course a force to reckon with over the past years in the competition.

However this particular contest might be little different as one team seems to be in dire need of the maximum 3 point than the other.

Worth noting that the Elephant won their opening game by 2 unreplied goals against Guinea Bissau.

While Nigeria could only settle for a draw against their opponent Equatorial Guinea in their opening game.

Now let’s take a look into the record: Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire has played each other about 14 times down the years including international friendlies. With Nigeria coming out on top in 7 of those fixtures whilst drawing 2 giving them little edge on H2H as against 5 times victory of Cote d’Ivoire.

Regardless this is an entirely different situation and currently it’s a balance affairs in terms of players paraded by both countries as they are all top professionals plying their trade across top European Leagues.

The Super Eagles have enough Fire Power to harm the Elephants likewise does the Host Nation. And Whoever come out on top at the end will be based on the effective use of their chances….. Because without any iota of doubt, there will be loads of chances in this particular contest. The contest will be live 3PM WAT

And to the other encounter, Seven times Champion Egypt will likewise face off with another West African side the Black Stars of Ghana, who recently hasn’t been at the top of the game.

Ghana lost their first group game 2:1 to Cape Verde in group B while the Egyptians surprisingly drew to Mozambique and hence both teams badly need this game.

Let’s take a look at the record:

Both teams has played each other 11 times down the years with Egypt coming out as winners in 5 whilst drawing 3 in the process leaving Ghana with just 3 wins against the North African Side. The Record isn’t to favourable for Ghana and their current form in the competition in recent times hasn’t done them any good either.

So Unless Ghana summon their inner strength and allow the star in them shine tonight by 9pm WAT it is likely we have a repeat of recent record where they crashed out in the group stage.

So Who Wins! These Two Fierce Thursday group battle at the on going AFCON 2023?

Well just as they say, only time will tell…
