Dutch winger, Anwar El Ghazi is taking legal action against former club, Mainz for wrongful dismissal. Mainz terminated El Ghazi’s contract on 2 November after a series of social media posts he made about the Israel-Gaza conflict. “I don’t see any statement in the latest post that is not covered by freedom of expression,” the winger’s lawyer told Allgemeine Zeitung. The World Bank has finally disbursed about $299.99 million to Nigeria out of the $800 million approved for the National Social Safety Net Program-Scale Up.  According to information from the Bretton Woods institution, with about 37.5% of the entire loan disbursed, there is a pending balance of about $442.88 million. The National Social Safety Net Programme-Scale Up was approved by the World Bank on December 16, 2021, and is expected to run till June 30, 2024. President Bola Tinubu will, on Thursday, join other Heads of State and Government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, to celebrate the country’s 50th Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day.  Presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, announced this in a statement on Wednesday. Richard Arnold has stepped down from his role as Manchester United’s chief executive. Arnold, 52, has been with United since 2007, acting as the club’s managing director from 2013. He replaced Ed Woodward as chief executive in February 2022. The Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures the rate of change in the prices of goods and services, increased by 0.61 per cent to 27.33 per cent in October compared to 26.72 per cent in the preceding month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) stated Wednesday. In a video shared online, Oladips was heard asking his friend about his whereabouts, urging him to quickly take him to the hospital. Wale Edun, minister of finance, says the successful implementation of the ongoing domestic reforms will increase Nigeria’s revenue to gross domestic product (GDP) ratio by 17 percent in the next three years. Edun said this during a presentation at the launch of Afrinvest’s 2023 Nigerian banking sector report in Lagos on Tuesday. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Tuesday announced that it has extended the validity of the old N200, N500 and N1,000 notes indefinitely. The apex bank’s Director, Corporate Communications, Isa AbdulMumin disclosed this in a statement titled, “CBN To Allow Old Design Naira Banknotes As Legal Tender, Ad Infinitum” Abdulmumin said the decision is line with international best practices and to forestall a repeat of earlier experiences implementing the policy.
