The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has directed that sting operations by officials of the agency at night time be stopped in all the Commands of the EFCC. The National President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, h as been referred for an ophthalmic investigation and brain scan. This comes after Ajaero sustained injuries from an attack by suspected hired thugs and the police during a rally protest in Owerri, the Imo State capital. Recall that the NLC, on Wednesday, had organized a protest rally in Owerri, over the alleged insensitivity of the state government over the worker’s plight in the state. The Imo State Police Command has debunked reports alleging that the president of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, was arrested by its personnel in Imo State. The incident occurred during a protest led by the NLC leadership across the state to register their displeasure over what they termed as a lack of respect for workers’ rights, unpaid salaries, and poor working conditions, among other concerns. The Nigerian Senate has approved the appointment of Shaakaa Chira as the new Auditor-General of the Federation. President Bola Tinubu had nominated Chira for the position, relying on Section 86 of the 1999 Constitution (Amended). Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed optimism that the political crisis ongoing in the state would be resolved amicably. Sir Bobby Charlton died after an accidental fall at a care home, an inquest has heard. The England and Manchester United legend died aged 86 in Macclesfield General Hospital on 21 October. The inquest at Cheshire Coroner’s Court heard Sir Bobby was living in The Willows in Knutsford, a nursing home caring for patients with dementia. Senior coroner for Cheshire Jacqueline Devonish concluded his death was accidental.
