Governor Hyacinth Alia has ordered all criminals currently operating in Benue State to leave or risk arrest. This is contained in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Sir Tersoo Kula, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Saturday. Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun has instituted a scholarship scheme for 550 indigent students of the Remo Federal Constituency of the state. He instituted the scheme in memory of his son, Gbemiga Abiodun, aka DJ Olu, who died six years ago. Speaking at the launch on Saturday at Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area, Abiodun said the scheme would ensure that brilliant, but indigent students had access to quality education. The Police Command in Kaduna State, says it has arrested 10 suspected kidnapers between September and Oct. 3, 2023. Global human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has called out the Federal Government for issuing a warning to Arise Television for allegedly using “derogatory and incendiary remarks” on its station. The Federal Government, through the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), issued a final warning to Arise Television over the use of derogatory and incendiary remarks on its station. The warning was contained in a letter titled “Preponderance of derogatory and incendiary remarks: final warning” by NBC’s Director General, Dr Balarabe Shehu Ilelah, on October 6, 2023. The Federal Government has announced the indefinite suspension of the N-Power program. Betta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, made the announcement while featuring on a TVC news program on Saturday. She said the decision was birthed by some irregularities within the scheme, noting that the government has launched investigation into the utilization of funds since the program began.
