The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has revealed that Benue, Delta, and Borno states are currently the least expensive places to live in Nigeria.
This finding is based on the July Consumer Price Index and Inflation Data, which was released on Thursday.
According to the report, these three states recorded the slowest rise in headline inflation on a year-on-year basis. Benue’s headline inflation stood at 27.28 percent, followed by Delta at 28.06 percent, and Borno at 28.33 percent.
On a month-on-month basis, Taraba (0.17 percent), Kwara (0.62 percent), and Ondo (0.91 percent) experienced the slowest rise in headline inflation.
However, Abuja (3.91 percent), Borno (3.84 percent), and Enugu (3.76 percent) recorded the highest monthly increases.
The report also highlighted a significant milestone: Nigeria’s headline inflation fell to 33.90 percent in July, marking the first drop since 2022 when it was 21.34 percent.
The NBS attributed the decrease in food inflation, which dropped from 40.87 percent in June to 39.53 percent in July, to reduced prices of staples such as garri and fufu.
