Bobrisky Files N1 Billion Lawsuit Against VeryDarkMan Over Bribery Allegations

Nigerian social media personality and cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has initiated a N1 billion lawsuit against internet activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan (VDM).

The legal action stems from allegations made by VDM, accusing Bobrisky of bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to drop money laundering charges against him.

VDM had shared a voice recording, which he claimed was of Bobrisky admitting to paying N15 million in bribes to the EFCC. Bobrisky, however, has refuted these claims, asserting that the recordings were generated using AI technology and are entirely fabricated.

In response to the allegations, Bobrisky, through her legal representatives, demanded an apology from VDM, both in writing and in a video, within 24 hours. Failure to comply would result in further legal action, according to a letter shared on Bobrisky’s social media.

House of Representatives Probes Bribery Allegations Against EFCC and Nigerian Correctional Service

Meanwhile, the Nigerian House of Representatives has launched an investigation into the bribery allegations involving the EFCC and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). The claims, also made by VeryDarkMan, suggest that the EFCC dropped money laundering charges against Bobrisky after receiving N15 million in bribes.

Rep. Patrick Umoh, representing Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, raised the issue during Thursday’s plenary session. He expressed concerns over the damaging allegations, which could tarnish Nigeria’s global reputation as a corrupt nation.

Umoh also highlighted claims that Bobrisky, who was convicted of defacing the Naira, did not serve his sentence in the Nigerian Correctional Service but instead stayed outside the facility. The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, has referred the matter to the Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions for further investigation.
