Brazil amongst favourites to land hosting right for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Brazil’s bid to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup has surged ahead of its competitor, a joint bid from Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany, according to a FIFA evaluation report released recently.

The evaluation report, issued by the world soccer governing body FIFA, arrives just before the decisive vote at the 74th FIFA Congress scheduled for May 17 in Bangkok. This vote will determine the location for the next Women’s World Cup.

Last week, Mexico and the United States withdrew from the 2027 race, redirecting their focus towards hosting the 2031 tournament.

The technical evaluation results revealed that Brazil’s bid received the highest overall average score of 4.0 out of 5, surpassing the BNG bid with a score of 3.7.

FIFA stated in a press release, “The Bid Evaluation Task Force has determined that both bids qualify for consideration by the FIFA Council and the FIFA Congress, as both bids have exceeded the minimum requirements for hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in the technical evaluation.”

The report highlights Brazil’s strengths, including its well-equipped stadiums, having successfully hosted the 2021 World Cup. Additionally, the country’s football association (CBF) and the Brazilian government have demonstrated unwavering support for the bid, showcasing their commitment to hosting the prestigious event.

If Brazil’s bid is successful, it will mark the first time that South America has hosted the Women’s World Cup, adding a significant milestone to the tournament’s history.

The upcoming FIFA Congress will be a crucial moment as FIFA Council members and delegates prepare to cast their votes, determining the future host(s) of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027.
