The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disqualified Engr. Kayode Ojo from participating in the upcoming Ekiti State governorship primary election.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) made the decision on Thursday, following the recommendations of its screening panel. Sources say the move aims to maintain internal stability and prevent factional disputes within the party in Ekiti State.
Ojo, a businessman and former 2018 gubernatorial candidate under APC, expressed disappointment over the decision. “I respect the party’s process, but I remain committed to serving Ekiti and Nigeria in any capacity,” he said.
With Ojo out, the primary election field now focuses on incumbent Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and Omolayo Oluremi. Party insiders suggest the disqualification was strategic to consolidate support for the incumbent governor.
The APC has not released an official statement explaining the disqualification, but the decision has sparked discussions among party members and political observers across the state.
