Frank Lampard Appointed Coventry City Head Coach.
Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has been named the new head coach of Championship side Coventry City on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
The 46-year-old takes charge of the Sky Blues with the team sitting 17th in the Championship, just two points clear of the relegation zone. He replaces Mark Robins, who was dismissed earlier this month after a remarkable seven-year tenure with the club.
Lampard’s appointment marks the first managerial change under Coventry owner Doug King, who completed his takeover in January 2023.
This is Lampard’s fifth managerial role, following stints at Derby County, Everton, and two spells with Chelsea. His most recent position, as interim manager at Stamford Bridge, ended in May 2023. Since then, he has been active in football media while assessing his next move in management.
Lampard’s immediate task will be to steady the ship at Coventry and guide the team away from the relegation battle. His first test will come on Saturday when Coventry host Cardiff City.
With a blend of experience and fresh ambition, Lampard’s arrival is expected to bring renewed energy to the Sky Blues as they aim to climb the Championship table.
