In a shocking turn of events, Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Ange Postecoglou, despite the Australian ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought with a Europa League victory. The dismissal comes just 16 days after Postecoglou guided Spurs to a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Europa League final in Bilbao, securing the club’s first European silverware in 41 years and a spot in next season’s Champions League.
However, the North London club’s joy was overshadowed by a disastrous Premier League campaign, with Tottenham finishing a dismal 17th. This poor domestic performance has ultimately cost Postecoglou his job, two years into his four-year contract.

Sky Sports News understands that Brentford boss Thomas Frank is the leading contender to succeed Postecoglou. Frank, who has impressed with the Bees, reportedly has a release clause in his contract, although negotiations with Brentford are yet to commence.
