CAF Unveils Fresh Identity For African Nations Championship (CHAN).

In a bold move to rejuvenate one of Africa’s most celebrated football tournaments, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has introduced a new logo and trophy for the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN)

The announcement, made in a statement by CAF, highlights the tournament’s new visual identity which aims to reflect the deep cultural and sporting heritage of the African continent. “The new look for the tournament brings a fresh identity and emphasises its deep-rooted connections to African football and culture,” the statement read.

The spotlight of this transformation is the TotalEnergies CHAN 2024 trophy, which boasts a sleek, contemporary design. Crafted with both gold and silver elements, the trophy not only signifies the prestige associated with the championship but also underscores its growing stature on the global stage. A particularly poignant feature of the trophy includes 54 distinct lines that encircle it, each line representing one of the 54 African nations, with a map of Africa at the heart of the design, symbolising unity and continental pride.

The upcoming championship will see participation from 19 teams, showcasing a diverse mix of footballing talent from across Africa. Notably, the tournament will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, with other participating nations including Nigeria, Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Central African Republic, Algeria, Niger Republic, Congo, Sudan, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.

This refresh of the CHAN’s image comes at a time when African football is gaining more international recognition, and CAF’s initiative is seen as a step towards enhancing the tournament’s appeal and visibility both on the continent and abroad. Football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating how this new identity will unfold on the pitch when the competition kicks off, promising not only thrilling matches but also a celebration of African unity through sport.
