CAF Unveils New Trophy for Super Cup Competition.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially introduced a new trophy for the Super Cup competition. This prestigious cup is contested annually between the winners of the CAF Champions League and the CAF Confederation Cup, pitting the best of African club football against each other.
For several years, the old Super Cup trophy has been in circulation, symbolising the pinnacle of African club football. However, after consultations and discussions within CAF, the decision was made to retire the old trophy and replace it with a new design.
RS Berkane of Morocco was the last club to lift the old trophy, following their victory over Al Ahly of Egypt in the final that took place in Saudi Arabia last year.
The first clubs to compete for the new trophy will be Al Ahly of Egypt, the current CAF Champions League holders, and their fierce rivals Zamalek, who claimed the CAF Confederation Cup. The highly anticipated clash is expected to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, continuing the tradition of hosting the Super Cup in the Middle East.
This new trophy represents not only a fresh chapter in the history of the Super Cup but also CAF’s commitment to evolving and enhancing the prestige of African football on the global stage.
