Chelsea And Nottingham Forest Charged By FA After Mass Confrontation.
Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the Football Association (FA) for failing to control their players during a mass confrontation in Sunday’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
The incident occurred in the 88th minute after Forest’s Neco Williams appeared to push Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella off the pitch, leading to a heated clash between players from both teams. Amid the confrontation, Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson was seen appearing to slap Forest’s Morato, though no further action will be taken against Jackson following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
In a statement, the FA alleged that “both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute.” Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have until Thursday to respond to the charges.
Three players were booked as a result of the altercation: Williams for Forest, and Cucurella and Levi Colwill for Chelsea. Chelsea faces an automatic £50,000 fine after receiving six or more bookings in the match for the second time this season.
This marks another instance of disciplinary issues for both teams as the FA continues to maintain strict oversight on player conduct during Premier League matches.
