“China Would Not Dare Challenge Me” Says – Donald Trump

Trump Claims China Would Not Dare Challenge Him.

Former US President Donald Trump has declared that China would not provoke him if he were re-elected, stating that President Xi Jinping respects him because of his unpredictable nature. Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Trump said that his strong relationship with the Chinese leader would prevent any aggressive moves, including a potential blockade of Taiwan.

Trump outlined his approach, saying he would impose significant tariffs on China should it attempt any actions against Taiwan. “If you go into Taiwan, I’m going to tax you at 150% to 200%,” Trump remarked, asserting that this economic deterrent would be enough to prevent military escalation without the need for direct confrontation. He confidently stated that Xi “respects me and he knows I’m [expletive] crazy.”

The former president, reflecting on his time in office, noted that while he would not call Xi a “friend,” he had a good working relationship with him. He added that he viewed Xi as a “very fierce person” but emphasised the mutual respect between them.

Trump also addressed his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying that he had successfully deterred Russia from invading Ukraine during his presidency by warning Putin of a devastating response. He claimed to have told Putin, “I’m going to hit you right in the middle of fricking Moscow,” underscoring his tough stance. According to Trump, Putin did not believe him at first, but Trump said he stood firm in his warning.

The former president’s foreign policy approach, often labelled “America First,” has raised concerns among critics who argue that it isolates the US from global responsibilities. This criticism intensified with Trump’s choice of JD Vance as his running mate, given Vance’s opposition to further US aid to Ukraine, which has alarmed Ukraine’s allies.

On immigration, Trump reaffirmed his strict stance, advocating for legal entry but also defending the controversial family-separation policy that was enforced during his administration. “I want a lot of people to come in, but I want them to come in legally,” he said. While discussing mass deportations, Trump noted that his firm policies on separating families acted as a deterrent for illegal immigration.

As the 2024 election approaches, Trump remains vocal about the perceived threats from within the US. He has described the “radical left” as a bigger danger than foreign adversaries, referring to them as “sick people” and “lunatics” who could cause unrest around the election. When asked whether he would rule out using the military to control such situations, Trump responded that he would bring in the National Guard if necessary to maintain order.
