In a recent interview on The Morning Hustle show, Afrobeats star Davido expressed his admiration for the United States’ democratic system, describing it as “true democracy”.
Davido, who is a US citizen, revealed that he voted for Kamala Harris in the US presidential election. He explained that his decision was driven by his desire to witness the first female president of America in his lifetime.
The singer also commended the “seamless process” of the US election, calling it a reflection of the people’s voice. He praised the democratic system, stating that “what I like about America is that there is true democracy. Where I come from [Nigeria], it’s not so.”
Davido’s comments come after he faced criticism in Nigeria for participating in the US presidential election. However, he remains steadfast in his views, emphasizing the importance of respecting the democratic process.
In the same interview, Davido also advised black Americans against relocating to Nigeria due to bad leadership, high exchange rates, and skyrocketing oil prices.
