Controversial American media personality, DJ Akademiks, has ignited a heated discussion in the music industry after claiming that Nigerian singer, Burna Boy, is more successful than American rapper, Gunna.
Akademiks made the assertion during a recent episode of his podcast, where he discussed Burna Boy’s rumored romance with Chloe Bailey, Gunna’s supposed ex-girlfriend. The rumors began circulating after Burna Boy and Chloe were spotted holding hands while leaving a club in Lagos.
DJ Akademiks argued that women often “date up” and seek partners who are more successful or ambitious. He emphasized that Burna Boy’s international appeal and success worldwide surpass Gunna’s achievements, despite Gunna’s potential dominance in US music sales.
“Burna Boy is a more successful artist than Gunna. Get mad all you want. That’s the fact. Burna is an international artist… He might not sell more units than Gunna in the United States, but he’s more successful worldwide,” Akademiks stated.
