Expressing concerns over potential disruptions and violence, the DSS urged the labour movement to prioritize dialogue and negotiation over street demonstrations.
The DSS emphasized the need to maintain peace and public order, highlighting the potential exploitation of the protests by certain elements to incite crisis and widespread violence. Dr. Afunanya stressed that the socio-economic situation in the country could worsen if the protests proceed as planned.
Acknowledging the efforts of all levels of government to address the economic challenges, the DSS called for trust in ongoing initiatives aimed at ameliorating the prevailing conditions.
The statement underscored the importance of resolving issues through peaceful means, cautioning against the escalation of conflicts which could have dire consequences.
Furthermore, citizens were urged to remain vigilant and resist attempts by external forces to destabilize the nation.
