EFCC Re-Arraigns Dasuki, Three Others Over N33.2 Billion Fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned former National Security Adviser (NSA), Colonel Sambo Dasuki (retd), alongside three others over alleged misappropriation of N33.2 billion meant for security purposes.

Dasuki was brought before Justice Charles Agbaza of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja on Tuesday, 25 March 2025. He was re-arraigned alongside Aminu Baba Kusa, a former general manager of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as well as Acacia Holdings Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited.

The defendants face a 32-count charge, including allegations of breach of trust and dishonest use of funds. One of the charges alleges that Dasuki, while serving as NSA, dishonestly diverted N10 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), converting it into foreign currencies supposedly for security operations, but instead funnelling it into the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential primary election.

Other charges accuse Dasuki of misappropriating N1.45 billion for organising prayers and transferring N4.68 billion meant for security infrastructure to fund election campaigns in Ekiti and Osun States.

All the defendants pleaded not guilty. The prosecution, represented by Oluwaleke Atolagbe, requested a trial date, while the defence asked for the continuation of Dasuki and Kusa’s existing bail conditions. The prosecution raised no objections but sought assurance of their presence in court throughout the trial.

Justice Agbaza has adjourned the case until 1 July 2025 for further hearing. The case, previously handled by Justice Hussain Baba-Yusuf, has now been reassigned to Justice Agbaza.
