Minister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has launched a series of visits to instill confidence and address security concerns in the Federal capital Territory.
During a town hall meeting in Bwari, he declared a decisive stance against bandits, promising substantial measures to combat the issue.
He said; “Security is one of the key priorities of Mr. President’s administration. Yesterday (Tuesday), Mr President summoned a high-level security meeting, which includes all the Service Chiefs, the Minister of Defence, and my humble self, because of recent attacks, particularly in Bwari. And so, currently, it is one of the key priorities, that Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda will want to face squarely.
“Everything has to be done to protect lives and property. Without protection of lives and property, then we have no business in government. My coming here today is to assure you that we are very serious. All those criminals, bandits, enough is enough. We will do everything in our power to make sure that we will not allow this to happen again. That is why just this morning, Mr. President has given me approval, to provide everything required to the security agencies”.
He assured residents of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, with President Tinubu approving necessary resources for security agencies.
Wike urged the public to collaborate by providing essential information to enhance security efforts. In a stern warning to potential informants, he stated, “Informants, you won’t sleep again.”
The minister discouraged the practice of resorting to crowdfunding for ransom, emphasizing the unintended support it provides to terrorists. Despite the understandable concern for abducted loved ones, Wike stressed the need to deter such fundraising efforts.
Chairman of the Bwari Area Council, John Gabaya, shared harrowing accounts of recent attacks and appealed for logistical support to strengthen the capabilities of security agencies.
