Federal Government Declares Public Holidays For Eid-ul-Adha, Urges Unity And Prayer.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced Friday, 6 June, and Monday, 9 June, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration. The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government, extending warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
In a statement released by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, Tunji-Ojo called on Muslims to embrace the spirit of sacrifice and faith exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He urged the faithful to use the occasion to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, reflecting the values of unity and devotion central to the festival.
The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He highlighted ongoing people-oriented reforms and initiatives aimed at restoring Nigeria to a path of progress and prosperity. “The administration is working tirelessly to ensure Nigeria regains its position as a great nation,” Tunji-Ojo said, encouraging all Nigerians to support these efforts.
As the nation prepares for the Eid-ul-Adha festivities, the Minister wished the Muslim Ummah a joyful and meaningful celebration, while calling on all citizens to unite in the collective pursuit of national progress.
