Nigerian Sports Facility Expert Highlights Challenges in Industry Integrity
Joshua Adamu, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s sports facility sector, has shed light on a significant challenge plaguing the industry—the influx of unskilled workers and infiltrators, which undermines the integrity of professionals in the field. As earlier reported by Sportgister.
As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alansmith Sports Facility company, Adamu shared these insights during a guest appearance on the Family United By Football (FUBF) Whatsapp platform’s personality interview session on Sunday.
Adamu, a FIFA-licensed stadium construction expert, emphasized that the government and certain individuals often succumb to the allure of shortcuts and kickbacks. This can lead to the selection of contractors lacking the necessary expertise to construct artificial pitches and stadiums, compromising the overall quality.
He noted that while artificial pitches offer economic and maintenance advantages over natural pitches, the industry faces challenges stemming from uncertified personnel, compromised pricing, and substandard materials, often due to compromises made by decision-makers.
“It happens most when you know the right things to do but you want to cut costs,” Adamu remarked, highlighting the prevalence of this issue within the industry.
Despite these challenges, Adamu pointed to successes, such as the FC Ebedei Stadium in Sagamu, constructed by Alansmith three years ago, which stands as a testament to quality materials and expert handling. He also expressed confidence in the ongoing construction of the second FC Ebedei Stadium, stating that it will set a new standard in Nigeria with the use of cutting-edge materials designed for durability.
Adamu’s insights underscore the importance of upholding industry standards, utilizing certified professionals, and prioritizing quality in sports facility construction to ensure long-term sustainability and performance.
