“I’ll Support Anyone Who Backs Tinubu,” Says Wike.
Abuja, Nigeria – Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has reaffirmed his staunch support for President Bola Tinubu, declaring that he will back anyone who aligns with the President’s vision. The former Rivers State governor made the statement on Thursday, 21 August 2025, during the flag-off of Lot 2 of the Water Supply Project in Karu, Abuja, where he also praised local leaders for their contributions to community development.
Speaking at the event, Wike commended former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman Christopher Maikalangu for their efforts in advancing local projects. He promised to construct a 2-kilometre road in Karu at Aduda’s request, highlighting the importance of supporting leaders who have the government’s ear. “Support those who have the capacity to bring something to the people. Support those that the government will listen to,” Wike urged residents, adding, “Anybody who supports Tinubu, I will support him.”
Wike lauded Maikalangu as a “very good and hardworking” leader, noting his success in securing projects like the Saburi Road, Kabusa-Takushere Road, and Deidei Road for his constituents. The minister emphasised that his support transcends party lines, stating, “I don’t know the party he belongs to. But I know that he supports Tinubu.” He also highlighted the Tinubu administration’s commitment to delivering potable water to Karu, a promise he said previous governments had failed to fulfil over decades.
The minister’s remarks underscore his unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, which he has consistently expressed since endorsing him during the 2023 general election. Wike, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before his appointment as FCT minister under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, has faced criticism from opposition parties for his allegiance to Tinubu. However, he remains defiant, insisting that supporting the President is in the nation’s best interest.
