Inter Milan Secure First Champions League Win With Dominant Display Against Red Star Belgrade.
Inter Milan recorded their first Champions League victory of the season with an impressive performance, defeating Red Star Belgrade 4-0.
Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoring early on, curling in a superb free-kick that found the net off the post in the 11th minute. The Italian side continued to apply pressure and extended their lead in the second half when Marko Arnautovic, formerly of Stoke City and West Ham, capitalised on a high turnover to slot home in the 59th minute after a fine assist from Mehdi Taremi.
Taremi remained pivotal in Inter’s attacking play, stealing possession in the 71st minute to set up Lautaro Martinez for their third goal. The forward eventually earned a deserved goal of his own, calmly converting a late penalty after Martinez was fouled in the box.
This victory marked a return to winning ways for Inter in Europe after their goalless draw against Manchester City in their opening group match. Manager Simone Inzaghi made seven changes from their recent Serie A triumph over Udinese, yet the side showed no signs of slowing down as they controlled the match from start to finish.
Meanwhile, Red Star Belgrade continue to search for their first win in the league phase, having previously fallen 2-1 to Benfica.
Inter’s dominant showing leaves them in a strong position as they look to build momentum in their Champions League campaign.
