At least 33 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, according to Hamas-run authorities. The camp, one of the most densely populated areas in Gaza, has been under siege by Israeli forces in recent weeks. Israel has yet to comment on the latest strikes, which it says are part of efforts to prevent Hamas fighters from regrouping.
The death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar earlier this week had briefly raised hopes of a possible end to the conflict, though tensions remain high. Iran’s supreme leader has vowed that Hamas will “remain alive,” indicating ongoing support for the group.
Meanwhile, a drone was reportedly launched towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence in Caesarea, northern Israel. Netanyahu was not at home at the time, according to a statement from his office.
Fighting has also intensified in Lebanon, where Israel’s military claims to have killed around 60 Hezbollah fighters and destroyed the group’s regional command centre. In response, Hezbollah announced that it had fired rockets at the Israeli city of Haifa and other areas to the north, further escalating the regional conflict.
