The Ivorian Football Association has appointed Emerse Fae as the new permanent head coach of the country’s national team.

Ivory coast has announced that Emerse Fae who led the country to win AFCON 2023 as interim coach is now the full time head coach of the Elephants.

Fae who was drafted in following the resignation of Frenchman Jean-Louise Gassete in the middle of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament due to poor group stage showing.

The announcement of his permanent appointment was revealed by Ivorian FA boss Ibrahim Diallo.

Emerse Fae, a former Ivorian international who had no prior experience as a coach, before he took over in the AFCON tournament, oversaw an incredible turnaround. Beginning from the round 16,  as the Ivorians came from behind to beat previous champion Senegal on penalties.

He went on to help his nation In their match against Mali,  despite playing much of the match with 10 men, but still came from behind to beat their West African opponents in extra-time.

Lukewise, he guided his nation to victory against Democratic Republic of Congo. Winning 1-0 in the semi-final.

And surprisingly, the host nation once again came from behind to beat the Super Eagles of Nig 2-1 in the final as they cruise to lift the trophy.

Emerse Fae has now been given the rod of leadership on a permanent basis to steer the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire going forward.
