Jack Dorsey, a co-founder and former CEO of Twitter, has quit Instagram. Dorsey notes that he deleted his account after years of being inactive.
Jack Dorsey shared on Nostr that he deleted his account after years of non-use. Dorsey mentioned that he was one of the first 10 accounts on the platform and an early angel investor. He also noted that Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom was an intern at Odeo, the organisation that later became the birthplace of Twitter.
“Deleted my Instagram account after 12 years. Was one of the first 10 accounts I believe and one of the first angel investors.
Who will they give the @jack handle to?” wrote Dorsey on X, formerly known as Twitter. Elon Musk reacted to Dorsey’s decision with a fire emoji, indicating satisfaction.
Dorsey, in the post, alleged Instagram being sold to the FBI, and that is why he stopped using the social media platform.
When asked about having a Facebook account, Dorsey replied, “No.” He also declined to explain why he left Instagram, stating that “all the reasons are too abstract to be interesting.”
On X, Dorsey criticised Meta’s new social media app, Threads, sharing a screenshot of its permissions screen on his iPhone with the caption, “All your Threads belong to us.”
About Threads and X, Zuckerberg and Musk have been contemplating a cage fight, which has been only a war of words till now.
The co-founder of Twitter said in his post that it will be interesting to see what happens with his username.
Well, now that Jack Dorsey is not on Instagram, his username @jack is now up for grabs. So, either someone should be quick enough to take it, or it might go for sale in the market, which could fetch thousands of dollars for the seller.
