The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has officially commenced the sale of application forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), and Direct Entry (DE), registration cycle for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges for the 2026/2027 academic session.

This announcement marks the start of one of the most critical periods in the academic calendar for prospective higher-education candidates nationwide.

1. Sale of Application Forms and E-PINs

JAMB has scheduled the sale of application documents and E-PINs for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates in separate phases:

Candidates are expected to obtain their E-PINs — electronic personal identification numbers — before completing their online registrations at accredited CBT (Computer-Based Test), centres nationwide.

Note: Only candidates with valid National Identification Numbers (NIN), are eligible to register. The NIN must be linked correctly to the JAMB profile to avoid registration issues.

The UTME registration window runs from January 26 to February 28, 2026.

3. Optional Mock UTME and Main Exam Dates

To help candidates familiarise themselves with the CBT exam format and identify areas for improvement, JAMB is offering an optional Mock UTME:

These key examination dates allow students roughly a month after registration closes to prepare for the main UTME.

4. Direct Entry (DE) Registration and Timelines

For candidates seeking admission by Direct Entry, typically holders of ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB, or university degrees, the registration window begins shortly after the UTME cycle:

Direct Entry registration runs concurrently with the latter part of the UTME cycle, giving DE applicants ample time to complete their applications.

5. No Increase in Registration Fees

Ahead of the registration period, JAMB clarified that there is no plan to hike UTME or DE form fees for 2026, reassuring parents and candidates that costs have remained stable compared to previous years. Any future fee adjustment would only be considered if absolutely necessary.

6. Preparations and Practical Advice for Candidates
