JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results: Over 1.5 Million Candidates Score Below 200.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), revealing a mixed performance among the 1,955,069 candidates who participated. According to the data released on Monday, more than 1.5 million candidates scored below 200 out of the possible 400 marks, while 420,415 candidates achieved scores above this threshold.

In a detailed statistical breakdown, JAMB highlighted that 4,756 candidates scored above 320, and 7,658 scored between 300 and 319, making up the top-performing 12,414 candidates who scored 300 or higher. Additionally, 73,441 candidates secured scores between 250 and 299, and 334,560 scored between 200 and 249. However, the majority fell short, with 983,187 candidates scoring between 160 and 199, and 488,197 scoring between 140 and 159. A smaller number, 2,031 candidates, scored below 100.

JAMB also noted the participation of 40,247 underage candidates, who were given the opportunity to showcase their abilities. Of these, only 467 (1.16%) met the exceptional ability threshold for the UTME, with their performance in the next three stages still under review.

The examination process was not without challenges. JAMB reported that 97 candidates were involved in confirmed examination infractions, while 2,157 others are under investigation for suspected malpractices. Additionally, 71,701 candidates were absent from the examination. Candidates who faced biometric issues are also being investigated, with those cleared set to be rescheduled for testing at designated centres.

Results for specific groups, including blind candidates and those in the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG), are still being processed, with further updates expected.

JAMB’s statement underscored its commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination process while providing opportunities for all candidates to demonstrate their potential. The board urged candidates to check their results via its official portal and prepare for the next stages of the admission process.
