James Strikes Late To Secure Point For Chelsea In Bournemouth Clash.

Chelsea captain Reece James marked his return from injury with a stunning 95th-minute equaliser against Bournemouth, securing a vital point for the Blues in the Premier League.

James, who has been sidelined for much of the season due to hamstring injuries, has only featured in five Premier League matches this campaign. His last league appearance was a brief eight-minute stint against Arsenal in November, making his impact in this match all the more remarkable.

The 25-year-old, known for his prowess both defensively and offensively, was introduced in the 56th minute against a challenging Bournemouth side. His performance was a testament to his skill, particularly against the agile winger Antoine Semenyo. However, it was his set-piece expertise that stole the show.

Assigned the duty of taking a crucial free-kick, James delivered a masterclass in precision. From 20 yards out, he curled the ball perfectly into the top corner, leaving the Bournemouth goalkeeper with no chance. This moment of brilliance was not just a point for Chelsea but a personal triumph for James, who looked visibly elated, celebrating with a roar and a punch in the air.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live after the match, James reflected on his time away from the pitch, “It was lonely and frustrating. I am really happy to be back helping the team.” His return was watched keenly by England manager Thomas Tuchel, under whom James had previously played some of his finest football during Tuchel’s tenure at Chelsea.

Chelsea’s manager Enzo Maresca praised James’ contribution, stating, “Reece can compare with Cole [Palmer] in terms of free-kicks because he is very good. We decided for Reece and he scored and we are all happy, because at least we took a point.” The strike was lauded for its “pace, power and a little bit of swerve” by former Premier League striker Glenn Murray.

The focus now for James is on maintaining his fitness. “Now, the target for him is to be fit until the end and he will help us in the way we want to play,” Maresca added, underlining the importance of James’ role in Chelsea’s tactical setup.

With 16 caps for England, albeit none since March 2023, James expressed confidence in his potential to return to the national team, mentioning that Tuchel “knows my capabilities.”

As Chelsea fans and the football community celebrate this moment, there’s a palpable sense of hope that James has indeed turned a corner in his injury-riddled career, promising more such thrilling moments on the pitch.
