The newly established Directorate of Public Relations and Strategic Communications of the Department of State Service has announced Peter Afunanya as the supervising Director as from yesterday, September 26, 2023.
The New department is saddled with the responsibilities of engaging citizens and the public, not neglecting strong advocacy for good democracy, transparency and accountability
The DSS expressed its commendation to the Director General, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi, for initiating the expansion and appointing Afunanya to lead the Directorate.
The security Agency disclosed this in a statement on its X handle wednesday
“It has appointed Peter Nnochirionye Afunanya, Ph.D, fsi, the erstwhile Public Relations Officer, to head the Directorate as the supervising Director and also be in charge of the Service’s public communications. The appointment took effect from 26th September, 2023.
‘’The Service has commended its Director General, Alhaji Yusuf Magaji Bichi CFR, fwc, for the initiative to undertake the expansion and particularly appointing Afunanya to pilot the Directorate,” it read.
