A notorious bandit known as Dangote, who had long been a source of terror in the regions of Katsina and Zamfara states, has reportedly met his end in a fierce clash with a rival gang.

According to reliable sources in Batsari local government of Katsina state, Dangote, along with his two brothers, was killed during an intense gun battle with a bandit group led by Kachalla Dankarami, also known as Goska. Both factions had been wielding dangerous weaponry and instilling fear in the frontline local government areas of Katsina and Zamfara states for an extended period.

The confrontation unfolded in the early hours of Sunday at Dunmurun in Zurmi local government area of Zamfara state, where Dankarami’s gang had set up an ambush against Dangote and his associates.

Sources indicate that the clash was sparked by an incident involving the theft of a flock of sheep belonging to one of Dangote’s relatives by a member of Dankarami’s group. Retaliation ensued, leading to a chain of events culminating in the fatal showdown.

Reports suggest that Dankarami himself sustained injuries during the skirmish, while a number of his associates lost their lives. In a grim turn of events, Dangote was reportedly beheaded by Dankarami using a knife.

The rivalry between Dangote and Dankarami’s gangs, vying for control over territory along the Katsina-Zamfara border, has frequently erupted into violence, claiming the lives of numerous members on both sides.

Despite being based in Zamfara state, Dankarami would reportedly seek refuge in Katsina whenever facing pressure from military operations, accompanied by his gang members.

The clash underscores the persistent security challenges posed by banditry in the region, with authorities facing an ongoing battle to contain the activities of these criminal groups.
