Kogi Central Constituents Demand Immediate Reinstatement Of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

The Concerned Constituents of Kogi Central Senatorial District have strongly rejected the suspension of their Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, describing it as illegal and a violation of their democratic rights. The group has called for her immediate reinstatement, warning against any attempt to recall her from office.

In a statement released on Monday by Hon. Abdulrahaman Badamasiuy, the Coordinator and Convener of the group, the constituents reaffirmed their unwavering support for Akpoti-Uduaghan, who they insist remains their legitimate representative in the Senate.

The group argued that the suspension deprives Kogi Central of representation in the National Assembly, stating that Akpoti-Uduaghan was duly elected in the 2023 general elections to serve until May 2027.

“Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan remains the one in whom we deposited our legitimacy as a senatorial constituency, and nobody can unscrupulously violate our democratic and constitutional rights,” the statement read.

They emphasised that all communities in Kogi Central stand firmly behind her and will not compromise on the quality of representation she has provided since assuming office.

Key Demands and Warnings

The group outlined several demands, including:

– Immediate reinstatement: They urged the Senate to reverse Akpoti-Uduaghan’s suspension, restoring constitutional representation for Kogi Central.

– No fraudulent recall: They warned against any conspiratorial efforts to recall her, vowing to resist any such attempts.

– Strong resistance: The constituents declared that any action against their collective will would be met with firm opposition from all communities in the district.

– Federal Government intervention: They called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government to ensure Akpoti-Uduaghan’s safety and prevent further provocations against the peace-loving people of Kogi Central.

– Maintenance of law and order: While they have remained peaceful, they urged authorities to ensure the situation does not escalate.

The statement concluded with a stern warning against further provocation, urging the Senate to address their concerns without delay.

With tensions rising over the suspension, all eyes are now on the Senate to determine whether it will heed the call of the Kogi Central people or risk escalating discontent in the region.
