Kylian Mbappe Bids Farewell to PSG with French Cup Victory (Govima Sports Report).

Kylian Mbappe concluded his illustrious Paris Saint-Germain career with a triumphant French Cup final win over Lyon, as Luis Enrique’s side secured a domestic double at Lille’s Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

PSG took the lead when Ousmane Dembele headed in a cross from Nuno Mendes. Fabian Ruiz then doubled their advantage, bundling the ball into the net after his initial effort was blocked on the line by Lyon’s defender Jake O’Brien.

O’Brien, who joined Lyon from Crystal Palace last summer, gave his team hope by heading in a goal from Rayan Cherki’s corner, marking his fifth goal for the club.

Mbappe, 25, leaves PSG as their all-time top scorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances, following his 2017 move from Monaco. He is widely expected to join Real Madrid, concluding an eight-year pursuit by the Spanish giants.

During his seven years at PSG, Mbappe won six Ligue 1 titles, four French Cups, and two League Cups. Despite starting only two of PSG’s final seven league games as Luis Enrique prepared for his departure, Mbappe was in the starting lineup for the cup final.

Off the pitch, the final was marred by violent clashes between fans approximately 100km away at the A1 motorway toll in Fresnes-les-Montauban. Rival supporters fought, setting one bus on fire and damaging four others, resulting in injuries to at least eight police officials.

French President Emmanuel Macron, who attended the game, condemned the violence, stating, “These are sporting events which should be about joy and sport. I condemn this violence with the greatest firmness.”

The victory marks a fitting end to Mbappe’s PSG tenure, highlighting his significant contributions to the club and leaving fans eagerly anticipating his next chapter at Real Madrid.
