Lagos APC Faults Planned Protest Over Kanu

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticized activist Omoyele Sowore for his plans to organize a “Release Nnamdi Kanu” protest.

The party described Sowore as a self‑proclaimed revolutionary who trivializes serious national issues for attention and public recognition.

In a statement, Lagos APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo said, “It is both baffling and laughable that Sowore, a man with no cultural or political connection to the South‑East, now parades himself as the rallying point of Ndigbo.” He stressed that it is an insult to a people with a rich history and intellect to think that Sowore can speak for them.

Oladejo questioned the activist’s motives, asking, “Why is Sowore weeping more than the bereaved? Why is he pontificating loudly on a matter that is already before a court of competent jurisdiction? Is this about justice, or merely another desperate audition for public relevance?”

The party further accused Sowore of undermining democracy and the rule of law by inciting protests over a case that is currently in court. According to the APC, this behavior exposes Sowore’s activism as opportunistic, shallow, and driven by self-interest rather than genuine concern for justice.

He added, “Ndigbo do not need a political wanderer borrowed robes to define their interests or struggles. They know their leaders, they understand their challenges, and they are perfectly capable of engaging the system with wisdom and dignity  not with Sowore’s brand of social‑media dramatics.”

Oladejo concluded by urging Nigerians to ignore Sowore’s antics, stating that matters before the court should follow the rule of law for lasting justice and national order, principles that the APC government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to.
