Man And Boy Arrested In Paris With €10m Jewellery Haul Hidden in Underwear.

Paris, France – French police have apprehended a man and a boy at Gare de Lyon railway station in Paris, uncovering a staggering €10 million worth of luxury jewellery concealed in a sock inside the underwear of one of the suspects. The arrests, made on Saturday, 30 August 2025, followed a routine police check as the pair disembarked a TGV train from Lyon, according to local reports.

The haul, described as “worthy of a film” by investigators, included a necklace valued at €5 million, earrings worth €2 million, a €1 million ring, and a Rolex watch, as reported by Le Parisien. Officers also discovered an angle grinder—a handheld power tool often used for cutting or grinding—in the suspects’ suitcase, raising suspicions of a planned burglary. The two individuals, of Tunisian origin and known to authorities, are now under investigation for theft by an organised gang, with the case handed to the Paris Banditry Repression Brigade (BRB).

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed on Monday, 1 September, that the arrests were made during a standard inspection at the bustling train station. “The discovery of such high-value items hidden in such an unusual manner underscores the audacity of the suspects,” a police source told Le Parisien. Reports suggest the pair may have travelled to Switzerland last month, and investigators are exploring whether the jewellery is linked to a recent burglary.

This incident follows a string of high-profile jewellery heists in Paris, including the 2016 robbery of American celebrity Kim Kardashian, where €6 million in jewels were stolen, and a €10-15 million theft from a Piaget store in 2023. The area around Place Vendôme, home to numerous luxury jewellery outlets, has become a frequent target for organised crime, prompting heightened police vigilance.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to trace the origin of the stolen goods and determine whether the suspects are part of a larger criminal network. The dramatic arrest has captivated public attention, highlighting both the ingenuity of criminals and the effectiveness of routine police checks in thwarting major thefts.
