Former UFC Flyweight Geane Herrera Dies at 33
Geane Herrera, a former UFC flyweight, has tragically passed away at the age of 33 following a motorcycle accident in Tampa, Florida. The Colombian fighter, who began his mixed martial arts (MMA) career in 2011, had a total of 13 fights over a seven-year period, including four appearances in the UFC.
Herrera’s family shared their grief and love for him on a GoFundMe page, stating, “Geane, you will always be in our hearts.” The message highlighted the profound loss felt by his family, including his 16-year-old son, his girlfriend who is three months pregnant, his parents, siblings, and extended family.
Herrera made his UFC debut in 2015 against Ray Borg, losing by unanimous decision. However, he quickly bounced back, securing a victory against Joby Sanchez in his next fight. Borg expressed his condolences on Instagram, saying, “He was a good guy, my prayers are with him and his family during this tough time.”
Nicknamed ‘La Pulga,’ Herrera continued his fighting career in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) in 2021, where he won his only bout via technical knockout.
