The Niger Delta Liberation Force (NDLF) and the Coalition of Civil Society (CCS), have clashed over the fate of Dennis Otuaro as the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
The controversy erupted after Mr. Nakor Francis, the leader of CCS, publicly called for the removal of Dennis Otuaro from his position, alleging a passive stance by the Presidential Amnesty Programme since Otuaro’s appointment. Francis urged the National Security Adviser to seek Otuaro’s replacement, citing concerns over the program’s effectiveness.
However, the NDLF, specifically representing the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Zone, vehemently opposed the call for Otuaro’s removal. In a statement issued by Mr. Kelly Rufus in Port Harcourt, the NDLF Coordinator condemned CCS’s demand, emphasizing that it came barely a month after Otuaro’s appointment.
Rufus went on to express full confidence in Chief Dennis Otuaro’s leadership, urging detractors to desist from attempts to tarnish his image. He accused those advocating for Otuaro’s removal of acting in bad faith, suggesting their intent was to discredit him before President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him as Administrator of the PAP.
Rufus commended President Bola Tinubu for his attention to the Niger Delta’s needs, applauding Otuaro’s appointment as a positive step toward addressing the region’s challenges.
