Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has responded to criticism over his role in the new film ‘5Alive’, which features a same-sex cheek kiss.

The controversy began when a promotional video shared by Rotimi Salami sparked outrage, with critics accusing Solade and co-star Sanusi Izihaq of promoting homosexuality.

One critic, Dunne Black, attacked Solade, saying “Mo sorry but ara yin o ya” (I’m sorry, but you are not okay). Solade responded with fierce retorts in Yoruba.

‘5Alive’ was released on YouTube on November 14, 2024, and features a diverse cast, including Allwell Adaramola, Salami, Yetunde Odunsi, Jumoke Salam, and Victoria Adeboye.

Solade, a veteran of the Yoruba film industry, has appeared in numerous Wale Adenuga series, including ‘Papa Ajasco,’ ‘Super Story,’ ‘This Life,’ and ‘Odd World’.
