Nigerian Navy Deactivates Illegal Refining Sites In Rivers State.
The Nigerian Navy, under Operation DELTA SANITY, has successfully dismantled an illegal oil refining site in the Bolo area of Rivers State. The operation, conducted by troops from Forward Operating Base BONNY, led to the discovery and deactivation of one cooking tank, one storage tank, and a dug-out pit filled with an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil.
In a statement shared on its social media platform, the Nigerian Navy confirmed that the illegal refining site was neutralised on Saturday, 5 October 2024. The suspects involved in the operation have been taken into custody, and investigations are currently ongoing.
The Nigerian Navy remains committed to curbing illegal oil activities and securing Nigeria’s oil resources in the Niger Delta region. This latest action highlights the Navy’s continued efforts to dismantle illegal refining operations that contribute to environmental damage and economic losses in the region.
