The 19th AELEX Annual Lecture will take place on October 14, 2025, in Lagos, with the theme “Rule of Law and Economic Development: The Nigerian Experience”.

This highly anticipated event aims to provide practical recommendations on how strengthening the rule of law can directly improve economic outcomes in Nigeria.

Former Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, will deliver the keynote address, while a high-level panel session will feature distinguished discussants, including Dr. Chinyere Almona, Director General of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Wale Babalakin, OFR, SAN, Chairman of Bi-Courtney Group of Companies; Mr. Bismarck Rewane, Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Ltd; and Dr. Reuben Abati, a renowned Journalist and Public Affairs Analyst.

According to Adedapo Tunde-Olowu, SAN, Managing Partner of AELEX Law Firm, “The rule of law is not just a legal principle; it is the foundation upon which economies are built.” He emphasized that a predictable and just legal system can drive investment, innovation, and growth in Nigeria.

The AELEX Annual Lecture has become a respected intellectual forum in Nigeria, bringing together thought leaders, policymakers, academics, business executives, and civil society representatives to engage in conversations that shape national progress. Past editions have featured eminent leaders and scholars from around the world.

Senior Partner at AELEX, Prof. Fubara Anga, SAN, noted that the lecture provides a non-partisan space for honest engagement on issues of national importance. “While participants may not always agree, the credibility of the platform ensures robust, respectful debate,” he said.

The 19th AELEX Annual Lecture promises to be a landmark event, with experts and thought leaders sharing insights on the vital role of robust legal and institutional frameworks in driving sustainable economic growth.
