NNPC Refutes Misleading Claims In Viral Video.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd has strongly denied the claims made in a viral video alleging that its fuel does not last. The company described the assertion as baseless and lacking any scientific credibility.
In a statement issued on Thursday, NNPC Ltd dismissed the video as unverified and unprofessional, stressing that its fuel is produced to the highest industry standards. The company assured Nigerians that its petroleum products are formulated for efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability.
NNPC Ltd further clarified that a significant portion of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at its retail stations in Lagos—where the video originated—is sourced from the Dangote Refinery. The refinery, a key partner in Nigeria’s energy security strategy, adheres to strict quality control measures to ensure the integrity of its products.
Describing the video as a desperate attempt by economic saboteurs to mislead the public and damage NNPC Ltd’s reputation, the company vowed to take legal action against individuals or groups spreading false information about its operations.
“We will not tolerate deliberate misinformation designed to undermine our operations and mislead Nigerians,” the statement read.
NNPC Ltd urged the public to disregard the misleading claims and rely on verified sources for accurate information. The company reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and quality, in line with global industry standards.
