Ahead of the Easter celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has initiated a security operation by deploying 35,000 personnel across the nation in order to ensure the safety and tranquility of citizens during this festive period.
In a statement released by CSC Babawale Afolabi, the spokesperson for NSCDC, it was revealed that the Corps Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, issued the directive for the deployment. Zonal Commanders and state Commandants have been assigned the responsibility of supervising the deployment within their respective areas of jurisdiction to uphold stringent security measures before, during, and after Easter.
The primary objective of this extensive deployment is to safeguard Critical National Assets and Infrastructure throughout the country. To achieve this goal, NSCDC officers and personnel will collaborate closely with sister agencies, maintaining continuous surveillance to thwart any potential threats.
In light of the public holidays declared by the Minister of Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, NSCDC’s vigilance becomes even more critical. Audi has specifically directed units like the anti-vandal unit, Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS), Transport and Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad, and Special Force to intensify their efforts during this period.
Audi stated the crucial role of public cooperation in enhancing security efforts. He urged citizens to provide timely and relevant information about suspicious activities or individuals, enabling prompt and effective responses from security agencies.
