The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command has reinforced its security measures across the state to protect critical national and state assets.
This is in order to prevent a breakdown of law and order, particularly in response to the Monday sit-at-home directive that has affected economic activities.
Maku Olatunde, the Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, made this announcement on Monday in Awka while overseeing the deployment of personnel for the renewed launch operations. The initiative is designed to encourage economic and commercial activities while mitigating the effects of the sit-at-home order.
Olatunde stated that the deployment focuses on protecting key locations, including banks, financial institutions, parks, schools, government offices, and other potentially vulnerable points. The goal is to maintain public trust and swiftly respond to any security breaches.
“The exercise aims to boost economic activities and prevent miscreants, criminals, vagrants, vandals, hooligans, unruly individuals, and economic saboteurs from attacking lawful residents of the state, particularly on Mondays,” Olatunde stated.
He explained the importance of professionalism among personnel, urging them to conduct themselves courteously while enforcing civil order. “You must be vigilant in the discharge of your duties, be professional, courteous, and responsive to the needs of the public,” Olatunde added.
The NSCDC boss encouraged law-abiding residents to continue their daily activities without fear or intimidation, assuring them that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has implemented robust security measures to thwart any threats from insurgent groups.
Maku also warned potential troublemakers to reconsider their actions, stating that anyone caught attempting to destabilize the peace in Anambra State would face severe consequences.
